Od wieków wiadomo, że poniedziałek do najprzyjemniejszych dni nie należy. Tym bardziej więc wybrałem się na koncert Crippled Black Phoenix do warszawskiego klubu Progresja, by pozbyć się syndromu początku tygodnia.
Rzadko zdarza się, bym zwracał uwagę na kapele poprzedzające występ gwiazdy wieczoru, tym razem zrobię wyjątek. Pierwszy suport to niezbyt ciekawy, raczej garażowy Witcher. Na stronie klubu przeczytałem, że zespół dopiero pracuje nad materiałem, dlatego odpuszczam dalszą recenzję ich występu, trzymając kciuki i życząc ciekawszych pomysłów.
Prawdziwym powodem, dla którego rozpisuję się na temat suportów, jest druga kapela wieczoru czyli Obscure Sphinx łącząca mało popularne instrumenty jakimi są ośmiostrunowe gitary oraz sześciostrunowe gitary basowe (czyli strojone o jedną oktawę niżej w porównaniu do “konwencjonalnych” gitar) z elektroniką. Trudno by ktokolwiek przeszedł wobec tej muzyki obojętnie…Piekielnie niskie dźwięki gitar, mroczne sample i hipnotyzujący głos wokalistki zbudowały niesamowitą atmosferę.
Swego czasu powstał gatunek zwany trip hopem – jako połączenie hip hopu i kwasu z gatunku “podróżniczych”. Występ Obscure Sphinx, stanowił podróż w bardzo odległe muzyczne rejony, dlatego próbując sklasyfikować sztukę, którą uprawiają, pozwolę sobie nazwać tę muzykę “metal-tripem. Występ stanowił zwartą całość i ciężko wyróżnić konkretne utwory, choć w ucho wpadł mi kawałek “Eternity”. Zachęcam jednak do indywidualnego zasmakowania w muzyce OS, bo warta tego jest.
Ze względu na niemały poślizg gwiazda wieczoru, czyli Crippled Black Phoenix, spiesznie zainstalowała się na scenie, by uwieść mnie jednym z otwieraczy występu, klimatycznym “Fantastic Justice”.
Z kolejnymi kawałkami Crippled Black Phoenix budowali niepowtarzalny klimat, który ostatni raz poczułem na zeszłorocznym koncercie Beirut (te same konwersacje z publicznością i niemal teatralna cisza w chwili wykonywania przez zespół utworów). Apogeum koncertu to cover “Of A Lifetime”, w którym wokalista Joe Volk ustąpił pola rewelacyjnej Daisy Chapman – klawisze i jeden z drugich wokali. W tym samym utworze na wyróżnienie zasłużył Karl Demata, wykonując rewelacyjne sola.
Moja sielanka trwała mniej więcej do utworu”Rise Up And Fight”, po którym spojrzałem na zegarek, szybko obliczając godziny snu, jakie pozostały przed kolejnym dniem. Konsekwencją moich obliczeń była dezercja. Jak się potem dowiedziałem, straciłem kilka dobrych kawałków. I to jest kolejny powód, by nie lubić poniedziałku.
