Pewnego pięknego czerwcowego popołudnia postanowiłem razem z kumplami wybrać się do Stodoły na koncert Devil Driver. A że pogoda była naprawdę ładna, to nie spieszyliśmy się z wejściem do klubu. I tak oto dwa supporty (Malefice i 3 Inches of Blood) zleciały nam pod znakiem przedkoncertowej sielanki w jednym z pobliskich parków. Z dobrze poinformowanych źródeł dowiedziałem się, że wiele nie straciliśmy gdyż obie kapele grały przed ledwie garstką fanów.
Wstępnie rozgrzani, choć nie muzyką poprzedzającą DD, trafiliśmy idealnie w “Nothings Wrong”, czyli numer otwierający koncert. Przy maksymalnie 500 osobach klub nie pękał w szwach, czym w pierwszych chwilach grania zdawał się być zasmucony wokalista Dez Fafara, który z przyklejonym do twarzy sztucznym uśmiechem dwoił się i troił, by mimo smutnej statystyki dać przybyłym ludziom dobry koncert. Publiczność nie pozostawała dłużna – niemal na każdym kawałku rozkręcał się “circle pit” na przemian z moshem. Zrodziło to więc nadzieję, że koncert uda się uratować. Tak też się stało.
Ze sceny wylała się bardzo techniczna, nowoczesna, ale przy tym niezwykle ciężka muzyka. Diabelski Kierowca rozpędzał się każdym kawałkiem, grając głównie utwory znane z klipów zespołu jak “Fate Stepped In” czy “Not All Who Wander Are Lost”. Całość okraszona popisami solowymi gitarzystów (zwłaszcza Mike Spreitzera) oraz prężnie działającej sekcji pozostawiła dobre wrażenie. A na koniec bis w postaci ” I Dreamed I Died” i można do domu.
Koncert choć krótki (około 60 minut) wyczerpał temat. Od początku obawiałem się o frekwencję – zespół jest w Polsce mało znany, a większości z występu przed Slipknotem, więc trudno spodziewać się, by samodzielnie zapełnił klub. Pozostaje mieć nadzieję, że to jednostkowy przypadek i przy następnych koncertach równie dobrych i mniej znanych kapel ( wielkimi krokami zbliża się Gojira) publiczność stawi się w większej liczbie, bo jak wiadomo pustki na koncertach scenie nie służą.
